Michelle Doran, RN

Congratulations to Michelle Doran, the first Oncology Nurse Navigator-Certified Generalist (ONN-CG) at UF Health Department of Urology

The Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators (AONN) offers certification in the area of oncology navigation.  After two years of study and research, Michelle passed the Oncology Nurse Navigator RN exam, which makes her board certified.  She is the first from UF Health to have this certification

The focus of the AONN is to advocate for the patient, make the patient’s treatment as streamlined as possible, support the patient during treatment and continue to follow the patient with survivorship planning and education.  Most institutions have nurse navigators give the survivorship care plan during a post treatment visit.  The navigator is the educator for the patient and family before and after treatment.  Responsibilities include patient care plans, keeping them up to date with consecutive visits, helping the patient and family with resources, as well as, performing psychosocial assessments and distress screening.

Please congratulate Michelle on this wonderful achievement!
