William Donelan, PhDCongratulations to William Donelan PhD, recipient of a
$120,000 Research Scholar Grant through the prestigious
Urology Care Foundation.

Dr Donelan’s highly competitive grant was selected out of a total of 77 applications. His project entitled “Production of Oxalate Oxidase Enzyme to Develop a Dipstick Test for Urine Oxalate Levels” will be funded from 2018-2020 through the Endourological Society.

Dr. Donelan, in conjunction with his mentors Drs. Benjamin Canales and Cuong Nguyen, will be focused on developing an agrobacterium-mediated plant protein expression system using Nicotiana benthamiana (tobacco) for the production of oxalate oxidase enzyme used to detect and manage hyperoxaluria in the setting of kidney stone disease.
