Selection of Residents
Thank you for your interest in the Urology Residency Program at the University of Florida! We are excited to be considered as part of your graduate medical training!
The Urology Residency Program considers every application. Our Program Director and our Urology Residency Review Committee, comprised of department faculty members, review all applications individually. Residents are selected based on their academic achievement, personal qualities and ability to excel in the rigors of surgical education.
For the most part, only those most qualified applicants from LCME schools that faculty considers as providing a superior undergraduate medical education will be interviewed.
Resident applicants submit their applications to the department through the Electronic Resident Application System (ERAS). Please ensure that your application is complete when submitting. In order for your application to be considered complete we require a medical school transcript, USMLE scores (no failures please), three letters of recommendation from Urology mentors or other faculty who have worked closely with you during your clinical clerkships or electives, or in your laboratory research as well as your personal statement.
Interview dates for 2016:
October 21 – 22, 2016
November 4 – 5, 2016
We offer 2 interview dates and interview approximately 35-40 applicants for 3 available Urology positions per year. We receive applications from many well-qualified applicants making it is impossible to interview all who apply. Because of this we ask that should you be offered an interview you respond with your acceptance or denial as soon as possible. This will allow the offer to be made to another applicant.
The interview process includes an overview of the department and the residency program followed by an evening reception where applicants will be able to speak freely with faculty and residents.
The evening overview and reception begin at 5pm. Afterwards, the residents host the applicants at a downtown restaurant for a continued evening of relaxation and information.
The next morning applicants gather again at 6:45am for breakfast and interviews begin at 7:30am. Applicants will be provided with lunch as the day typically ends by 2pm.

We hope to hear from you!
