General Urology
Overview

Urology is a surgical subspecialty that manages the diseases of the urinary tract. Management can be either surgical or medical or both.

The urinary tract consists of the kidneys and the adjacent adrenal glands, ureters, bladder, male prostate, urethra and male testicles. Disease entities include infections, inflammation, cancer, and acquired or congenital defects that affect these organs. In particular this includes urinary and prostate infections, kidney stone disease, erectile dysfunction, cancer of the prostate, bladder, kidney and testes, infertility, benign prostate hypertrophy, and incontinence. The general urologist specializes in the careful diagnosis and treatment of all diseases of the urinary tract. Urologic specialists are also available to participate in individual patient management. Disease management can be either chronic or acute.

The Urology clinic at UF Health is staffed by professionals adept at the diagnosis and management of the entire spectrum of urologic disease. Central scheduling assures an appointment with the appropriate specialist. Care is compassionate, thorough and individualized with timely communication shared with your primary physician including recommendations for treatment.
