Dr. Benjamin K. Canales Publishes Article in AUA News

Dr. Benjamin K. Canales, Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology, published an article in the October 2012 issue of AUANews, a monthly newsletter sent to all American urologists through the American Urological Association. The article, entitled “The Role of Genetics in Calcium Stone Disease” highlights four genes thought to be most responsible for genetic inheritance of “run of the mill” calcium kidney stones. Both Dr. Canales and Dr. Vincent Bird (Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Florida) have a keen interest in these and other candidate genes and are actively recruiting stone formers in a genetic study at Shands/UF.
