The annual meeting of the Florida Prostate Cancer Advisory Council (PCAC) was held in the Department of Urology at the University of Florida in Gainesville on December 7th.

Attendees included board members and guests from the academic centers around the state as well as the State Surgeon General. Topics presented for discussion included the current status of PSA-based screening for prostate cancer, genetic testing and global disparities in diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Updates were provided by the executive directors of the Florida Biochemical Research Advisory Council (BRAC) and Florida Cancer Control & Research Advisory Council (CCRAB) as well as the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) on prostate cancer education tools. Discussion was lively and provided insightful guidance.
The annual PCAC report to the Governor in January 2020 will reflect on past accomplishments and summarize the future direction and focus of this statewide body.
