The University of Florida Department of Urology had the distinct pleasure of having Dr. Gary Lemack as the 2021 David M. Drylie, MD Visiting Professor, September 2-4, 2021. Dr. Lemack is professor of urology and neurology and the vice chair of education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.
The resident-centered event started on September 3rd with our UF Urology Residents hosting a dinner for Dr. Lemack at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille. It was a great opportunity for the residents and Dr. Lemack to converse and learn in a relaxed atmosphere.
On September 4th at Hotel Eleo, Dr. Lemack had breakfast with the department faculty and then presented “Update on Randomized Controlled Surgical Trials in Urinary Incontinence. Yes, we have RCT’s in FPMRS” to the department. This was followed by interactive case presentations on urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, and medical education. In the evening he completed the educational program with “Libby Zion vs NY Hospital: Bad Medicine, Bad Training, Bad System, or Bad Luck?”. The day ended with a reception at the hotel where residents, faculty, and students were able to interact with Dr. Lemack and his family.
Saturday, September 5th was the annual UroGators Alumni Society Tailgate on the North Lawn of Reitz Union. Residents, faculty, and Dr. Lemack were present to enjoy food, beverages, and comradery prior to the game.
An educational and fun time was had by all and we look forward to our next visiting professor event.
