The 2022 UF Department of Urology Resident Graduation Banquet was held June 24, 2022 inside the grand atrium of the Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention in Gainesville. Faculty, Residents and Families gathered to celebrate the graduation of residents Dr. Jeremy Archer, Dr. Troy Larson, Dr. Tanner Rawlings and endourology fellow Dr. Hemant Chaparala. This annual black-tie event celebrates many years of growth, hard work and dedication for each of our graduates. As has been said before, the days go by slowly but the years go by quickly. One of the great parts of the graduation ceremony is the opportunity to share both the humorous moments and the significant accomplishments of our graduates with their families. Their accomplishments include, Dr. Larson – Resident Research Award, Dr. Archer – Resident Teacher Award and Dr. Rawlings – Gold Humanism Honor Society. As faculty, we know personally the level of pride each family member shares.

Drs. Archer, Larson, Rawlings and Chaparala will enter private practice in Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Altana.

The evening consisted of roasts, touching tributes, presentations and a 360 photo booth. Drs. Bayne and Moy welcomed all and made introductions of the graduates families in attendance. Drs. Bird, Brisbane, DeMarco and Yeung each spoke of the mentor/mentee relationships. For the 2nd year, Dr. Canales led the group in a game of “How Well Do You Know Your Chiefs”. Drs. Ashouri, Batra and Miyagi gave fond farewell speeches to their outgoing chiefs.

Each year the residents select the faculty member they feel embodies UF Urology’s best in teaching. This year’s recipient was Dr. Chris Bayne.

Dr. Stringer, Associate Chair and President of the UroGators Alumni Society welcomed the graduates and presented each with plaques signifying lifelong membership. The UroGators proudly represent over 60 years of urology residency training and is the glue for generations of residents to return to their roots in Gainesville to honor their heritage.
