LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review the effects of common chemotherapeutic agents, radiation therapy, and urologic surgical interventions on spermatogenesis.
  • Identify fertility outcomes for patients with prior gonadotoxic exposures.
  • Discuss concerns regarding birth defects in patients with a history of chemotherapy or radiation exposure.
  • Evaluate process, timing, and costs associated with sperm banking and artificial reproductive technologies.
  • Discuss our ability to thoughtfully counsel patient on gonadotoxic agents and fertility preservation in the setting of oncologic treatment.
