Cheers to the New Year is an annual event hosted by the UF Health Cancer Institute to acknowledge and honor the outstanding work of those involved in cancer care. Cheers is an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the previous year and – most importantly – to acknowledge key employees whose outstanding efforts were essential to those successes.
This year, Tarik Benidir, M.D., clinical assistant professor in the Department of Urology, was selected as the 2025 Cancer Targeting and Therapeutics Program Rising Star. The Rising Star Award recognizes an early-stage investigator whose accomplishments distinguish them as possible future leaders at the Cancer Institute. Awardees are individuals whose performance demonstrates innovation, professionalism, and leadership qualities.
Paul Crispen, M.D., the David A. Cofrin Professor of Urology and associate director for clinical research at the institute, praised Benidir’s work.
“Dr. Benidir is an extremely engaged and active clinical investigator,” Crispen said. “His ability to developing and activate investigator initiated trials so early in his career is truly impressive.”
Congratulations, Dr. Benidir!
