Dr. Tarik Benidir

Congratulations to Tarik Benidir, M.D., assistant professor of urology, on being named the director of the Prostate Cancer Focal Therapy Program! See below for a message from our chair, Li-Ming Su, M.D.

“I am extremely proud to witness the outstanding leadership that Dr. Benidir has brought to UF College of Medicine and the Department of Urology in establishing one of the most robust and comprehensive programs in focal therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer in the Southeast. He offers a broad range of options including high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), cryotherapy and irreversible electroporation (IRE), allowing him to apply what is most effective for targeting cancers in specific anatomic regions of the prostate gland. His outstanding work and leadership extends to his position as chair of the Florida’s Prostate Cancer Advisory Council, a collaborative, multi-institutional and muti-specialty body charged by the Florida Legislature to improve communication among stakeholders in prostate cancer care, address health disparities, and coordinating interdisciplinary research.”
