It is my great honor to announce our department faculty academic promotions for 2023. Drs. Benjy Canales (Full Professor), Paul Crispen (Full Professor) and Padraic O'Malley (Associate Professor) each received their promotion notice on June 21, 2023 from Joseph Glover, the University of Florida provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. Each one of these faculty have contributed significantly to academic urology and especially the growth of the University of Florida College of Medicine Department of Urology.

Perhaps the most inspiring and engaging talk was given by our patient perspective speaker, Mr. Thomas Surrency. His talk was filled with honesty, compassion, and hope. Patients, their families, and those that treat patients with kidney cancer were left feeling inspired, optimistic, and better educated on how to beat this disease! We look forward to a repeat event next year!
Congratulations to Kassandra S. Hobbie, RN, (UF Health Urology - Medical Plaza), the UF College of Medicine Florence Nightingale Award Winner for 2023.
We are pleased to announce that William Donelan, PhD, and his mentor Sergei Kusmartsev, PhD, have received an American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant to develop novel antibody-drug conjugates for the treatment of bladder cancer.

At the 2023 American Urological Association (AUA) meeting in Chicago, the University of Florida urology residency program had an excellent showing with multiple residents presenting their research. Residents were able to enjoy all the AUA meeting had to offer by presenting their own research, attending plenary and breakout sessions, visiting the exhibit hall, and socializing with new and old friends.
