Multidisciplinary Urinary Stone Clinic

Ongoing research has revealed that the causes and nature of urinary stone disease are quite complex and may relate to a number of dietary, health, and lifestyle factors that are specific to each individual. As such, a personalized approach is often necessary for patients who suffer from recurrent urinary stone disease.

Both our Urology Department and the Division of Nephrology in the Department of  Medicine have a reputation for excellence that extends to treatment of urinary stone disease. Our Multidisciplinary Urinary Stone Clinic is staffed by experts from both specialties, led by Dr. Vincent Bird and Rupam Ruchi. With our clinic staff, we provide coordinated care to help lower the risk of stone recurrence and to minimize need for additional operative procedures with a focus on dietary and medical approaches. Our dedicated staff are also involved in ongoing research to better understand, treat, and prevent urinary stone disease. Patients are also offered the opportunity to participate in stone prevention related studies.
