The mission of the University of Florida Transgender Health Program is to improve the overall health of the transgender community through world-class patient-centered clinical care. We follow the standards of care guidelines set forth by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
With our commitment to the highest levels of quality, we utilize a multidisciplinary approach to transgender medical care by incorporating top experts from Plastic Surgery (Drs. Bruce Mast and Harvey Chim), Urology (Dr. Lawrence Yeung) and Gynecology (Dr. Emily Weber Lebrun).
Medical interventions:
- Gender affirming hormone therapy is the primary medical intervention sought by transgender people. Such treatment allows the acquisition of secondary sex characteristics more aligned with an individual’s gender identity. In the Department of Urology, we offer testosterone therapy for female-to-male transgender patients.
Surgical interventions:
- A wide range of gender affirming surgeries are available to transgender people. These include female-to-male and male-to-female gender affirming surgeries. These procedures are performed as a collaborative effort by fellowship trained reconstructive experts from Plastic Surgery, Urology, and Gynecology.
